Greg Dunkin

Listener Advocate/Program Director at the new 94.7 Fresh FM

Here are a few things you might want to know about him…

Professional Background: He’s a 36-year radio veteran (on-the-air at the age of 12) and has been a personality and programmer across the county in markets like New York, Los Angeles, Kansas City, Indianapolis (among others). Greg’s done everything from helicopter reports to love songs shows! He has a consulting company and is writing a general-business marketing book. He was also instrumental in leading the Children’s Miracle Network into the adoption of Radiothons to help local Children’s Hospitals raise money. Home Town: San Diego, but grew up outside Kansas City in the small town of Olathe (Indian for Beautiful City).

Sign: Pisces

Kids: Greg is an extremely proud dad of two girls aged 20 and 8! He had a dream of his oldest daughter, tugging on his pant leg wanting to sit on his lap and talk before his ex-wife even suspected she was pregnant! She has an unusual name says Dunkin, “but in my dream I called her by name. As a child she looked exactly as she did in my dream. I generally am skeptical about stories like this, but it happened.”

First concert: Commodores (overheard Lionel Richie backstage on the phone with his grandmother telling her their album with ‘Brickhouse’ was number one on the Billboard charts).

Favorite food: Mexican! Mmmmmm cheese.

Name one tune that’s in "Recently played" on your iPod: Brooke White – Radio – Radio!

Last movie seen: Couples Retreat

Favorite movie(s) of all time: Night at the Museum II – My 8-year-old daughter and I watched it at the Smithsonian, then spent the night in sleeping bags in the Museum!!!

Favorite Song of all time: Somewhere Over The Rainbow. This song was one of my grandmothers favorites and we would sing the song together. (I know Nikki also chose that one…but I’m older than she is…so I win)

Favorite artist(s) and/or group(s) of all time: Sade

Favorite Books: Positioning – The Battle For Your Mind and anything with pictures and large print.

Current hobby: Photography. My younger brother Gary is the best photographer I’ve ever seen. He’s been widely published and does the most amazing, creative shots. ..from News to portraits to photo documentaries. He spurred my interest. Check out some of Greg's photos here.

Other hobbies: Scuba diving, cooking, and Chiefs Football!

Favorite childhood memory: Christmas with my parents, brothers, and grandparents. Although my mom insisted on saving all the wrapping paper so it could be reused (Come ‘on Mom!)

What makes you laugh? Love and admire well-written, and delivered comedy. Timing is everything. Ellen comes to mind – doing stand-up...from a chair. Ever hear her bit about the fly on an air plane? Wow…never knew he could fly sooooooooooo fast.

Favorite TV Shows? Frasier was one of the best produced shows ever. New Adventures Of Old Christine. The Big Bang Theory is growing on me.

Cats or dogs? LOL…at one time I had a dog named Disney and a cat named Suess, so I love both.

What celebrity crushes did you have as a teenager? Christie Brinkley and what boy didn’t have a ‘lil somethin’ somethin’ for Farrah!

Latest accomplishment: Being part of the team that signed on a brand new station in DC, that is different from anything else on the dial….letting the listeners program the station! Commercial Free Mondays, etc.

BTW: Did I mention I love cheese?
